"Amber, the freezing gold, that is not hot and is not cold
Has caught within its dreaming arms, the insects and the flowers charms
Time has kept as still as death, holding instant, every breath
Now from out our fading past, a scene which can forever last"
-Garry Platt-
I know the poem is actually about amber, the dried tree sap, but I've found it can be about me, Amber, as well. Especially the "a scene which can forever last" which makes me think of photographs and how the pictures I take will be around for a while.
Self portrait
Set up: a 60 watt light above me. Camera below. Took quite a few tries to get the shot right which if why you probably won't see a repeat of this style unless I'm feeling horribly ambitious.

I love the poem and the meaning and how you've related it to yourself. This is a gorgeous photograph, I love the hair and the specific light only showing up in certain parts. Great job, as always

Now it's time for August 2008 Visual Art Features, many new art to discover!
Don't forget that many artists need to be viewed, they deserve it! Fave Fave Fave! My main purpose in doing a monthly feature about (to my point of view) 'the best visual art' is to put in the same level as well wellknown artists and popular creations as unknown artists and under-exposed creations. Artists need to be supported. So don't be shy!

Did you dread your beautiful hair??
Shame, shame if you did!
Now worries if you didn't...
And I love your eyes.
